Tempo

Terms of use

The short version: Tempo is software you run on your own Mac, on your own files. Here is what that means.

The app

Tempo is provided as it is, with care but without a guarantee that it fits every purpose. Keep backups of your folder — the app makes daily ones, and your files are plain text, so any backup tool works too.

The trial and the licence

Everything is free for 14 days after the first launch, without a card or an account. After that a licence keeps the app fully working; without one the app opens your pages and takes notes, but does not edit or start Focus. Your files are never locked.

Licence

One person, one key — it works on your other devices too. No account — your email is the receipt.

What you buy

A one-time licence, for one person: the same key works on your other devices. Tempo is bought once; a year of updates from the purchase is included, and after that the app keeps working on the version you have. The price is on the pricing page.

How the key arrives

After the purchase you get an email with your key and an Activate link to the activate page, where one button opens the app with the key filled in. In the app: Settings → License → Enter key. The key lives in that Mac's keychain, never in the vault.

When the key is checked

The key is checked when you activate a Mac and when you deactivate one. A licensed Mac asks the store nothing more: a key bought once is never asked again. A subscription bought earlier is looked at once after each renewal date, and once a day while a payment is late; if the store cannot be reached, nothing changes — a licensed Mac keeps working for as long as it is offline, and the plan is looked at again only when the store answers.

Moving to another Mac

Settings → License → Deactivate this Mac frees its place. Then enter the key on the new one.

Lost your key

Settings → License → Send my key again opens the store's customer portal on our domain: your orders, receipts, the keys, the card. A magic link to the email you bought with; there is nothing to log into.

After the trial, or while a licence is lapsed

Tempo reads and captures — Inbox, Journal, every page. Editing the three and Focus wait for the key. Nothing is locked away, nothing is deleted; your files are plain Markdown or Org and open in any editor, always.

Subscriptions bought earlier

Tempo was sold by subscription before; one bought then runs to its end. Cancel any time in the customer portal: Tempo keeps working to the end of the time you paid for, then reads only — your files stay yours and open anywhere, and nothing is deleted. Buy once, and the same app picks up where it was.

Refunds

Within 30 days of a purchase, no questions asked. Use Get in Touch on this page with the email you bought with. After a refund the key stops unlocking Tempo; your files stay where they are.

Your data

Covered on the privacy page: your files stay yours and never leave the Mac, and what the app can send is spelled out there.
