Sunclax
Privacy
Sunclax counts, and never records what you type. There is no account, and nothing leaves the Mac unless you say so — here is every way it can, and the switch for each.
What is kept, on your Mac
A count per key per hour, a count per shortcut per hour, the busiest minute as one number; for the mouse, counts of clicks and scroll steps and a distance. No order of keys, no text, nothing finer than the hour. All of it in plain text files, one per day, in a folder you chose — on your Mac, or in your iCloud Drive because you put it there. There is no database and no cloud of ours.
Only presses of your own hands are counted. A key or a click a program sends — a text expander's snippet, dictated text, a launcher, a script — is not a press and is never counted; a key held down and repeating counts once. The mouse can be switched off in Settings.
The permission the app asks for is Input Monitoring, the way macOS names it: it lets an app see key presses system-wide. Sunclax asks once, in plain words, and uses it for counting only. Quit the app and the counting stops; take the permission away in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Input Monitoring, and it cannot count at all.
What leaves the Mac — the only ways
- The update check. When: a few seconds after launch, then every six hours. What: one request to this site's version.json, and nothing in it but the request itself. Where: maxclax.com. Switch: Settings › Updates.
- The What's new notes. When: at most once a day. What: one request to this site's changelog.json, carrying the version it last had so an unchanged file is not sent again — nothing else. Where: maxclax.com. Nothing is sent but the request.
- The download of an update. When: only after you say yes to one. What: the new build, from dl.maxclax.com, checked against the checksum in the catalog and the maker's Developer ID before it is installed. Nothing of yours goes with it.
- The licence. When: activation, one check after a renewal or refund date, deactivation — never during the trial. What: the key and a name for this Mac. Where: maxclax.com/api/sunclax/license/, which asks the shop. Switch: none needed — without a key nothing is sent.
- Crash reports, off until a yes. When: after the app stopped. What: where in the app it stopped and when it ran — a session per launch, per version — with a random number for this Mac. No breadcrumbs, no IP kept, never a count or a key. Where: Sentry. Switch: Settings › Privacy › Send crash reports.
- One anonymous day, off until a yes. When: offered on the welcome screen at the first launch, beside crash reports; if not answered there, asked once a week later; then once a day. What: the version of Sunclax and macOS, the language, the plan or the trial with its day, the board and layout chosen, and which kinds of screen were opened. No number for this Mac, never a key, never a count. Where: Umami on the maker's own server. Switch: Settings › Privacy › Anonymous usage.
- Ask AI, only when you use it with a cloud provider you chose. What: your question and the files the chat reads, to Claude or OpenAI with your own key — never to us. Apple Intelligence and a local model stay on the Mac; that is the default. Switch: the provider you pick in Settings › Ask AI.
What never leaves — and is never even kept
- What is typed: no letters, no words, no order of keys, nothing inside an hour. Only counts per key per hour, per shortcut, and the busiest minute; for the mouse only counts and a distance.
- Anything while a password field is active. Secure input pauses everything — not even a total — and the panel shows it while it lasts.
- Where the pointer was, or in which app.
- The folder. Counts stay in your files, on your Mac and your own iCloud Drive. No server of ours ever sees a stat.
The licence door
Not opt-in, but it only exists once you hold a key. When you activate or deactivate a Mac, the key and this Mac's name go to the licence door on maxclax.com, which asks the shop. A key bought once is never looked at again. To stop keys being guessed, the door looks at the address a request comes from for one minute; it is not stored. The door counts the action and the shop's answer — never the key, never the Mac.
What we never do
- Record, read or store what you type.
- Require an account or a sign-up.
- Sell or share anything about you.
- Track you across the web.
This website
This page is served like the rest of maxclax.com and keeps ordinary server logs for a short time. If you sign up for the release mail, we keep your email until you leave it.
If you allow cookies, our store, Lemon Squeezy, sets one for 30 days to record where a purchase came from. Say no, and nothing of theirs loads. The fonts come from this site, not from Google.
The site counts visits with Umami, on our own server: no cookies and no personal data — which pages were read, where visitors came from, and clicks on buttons such as Buy and Download.
